Janet Brooks - ASID

Janet Brooks, ASID has been a leading design professional in Arizona and Colorado for more than 30 years. Originally hailing from the Chicago suburbs, Janet brings midwestern sensibility to her design aesthetics. The broad spectrum of her design projects has taken her from Coast to Coast, often including work for repeat clients. If there is a single word to describe Janet’s design practice, it would be “passionate”. She thoroughly immerses herself in the challenge of every project and welcomes the opportunity to express and develop new design styles. To label her own particular style would be difficult, although her admirers would say that in everything she does, she creates an overall feeling of comfort. Clients’ comments upon entering a space that Janet has designed always include the words “warm, inviting, comfortable”.

Her philosophy is that there are very few if any hardcore “rights and wrongs” in the design world; however, there are always better, more beautiful, more practical and more cost-efficient ways to execute a design. She believes in the uniqueness of each project and each individual client, and makes a point never to use the same piece of furniture or fabric in more than one project. To do so would, in her opinion, be taking a short cut; and because each of her projects are so diverse, there is no need for repetition.

Janet is a true team player, believing strongly that the client is positively served by using a team of true professionals: architect, builder, landscape designer, interior designer, and other highly skilled tradespeople. The team provides a system of checks and balances, assuring an honest, inspired and budget-conscious result. In short, “the whole is more than the sum of its parts”. This hold true whether she’s working on a private residence, a restaurant, a retail space, a convention facility….or the interior of a private jet.

Being thankful is a big part of who Janet is: thankful for a career that is rewarding and inspiring, thankful for the opportunity to make a difference in her clients’ lives; thankful to be able to bring balance and harmony to a piece of our world and make it a better place in which to live.
