Janet Brooks, ASID and her team at Janet Brooks Design have been transforming our Scottsdale home, and our lives, for more than 10 years. Our first project together was in 2004, when Janet completely redesigned our Kitchen, Great Room, Foyer and Dining Area. The results are amazing, and the project and end result was a focus article in the Scottsdale Community College Design School. Over several more years, Janet has completely remodeled the Master Suite into an oasis, transformed the Guest Bath, and executed a complete redesign of the backyard, including designing and relocating a new pool, extending the back patio of the house for a true indoor/outdoor living experience, and creating a destination BBQ and dining cabana. Janet’s design style, charisma, and dedicated staff made every remodeling project a dream come true. We absolutely love Janet Brooks and are so grateful to have met her many years ago!”

We are currently designing our third residence since being married for 25 years. Our first two were massive remodels including adding significant square footage to residence #2. Our current project is a new custom home and the first time we have engaged a designer to assist us.
Janet Brooks, ASID of Janet Brooks Design in Scottsdale has been with us every step of the way commencing with our first meetings with our architect & builder. Her input didn’t start with what finishes to use, but what shape and size should the house be!
Janet sees details that we would never see or notice. She has knowledge of blueprints, framing, roofing, windows, flooring, lighting, cabinetry, furniture layout, electrical, lighting, finishes, color, fabric, etc.
Janet brings a critical and creative side to the project by introducing ideas and questioning or eliminating ones that are unnecessary and/or unfit for the project.
She is also great at telling us if there is something right or wrong. That immediate and confident feedback is extremely helpful!
We rely on Janet to assist us in making thousands of decisions. After living in our two previous self-designed and decorated homes we look forward to moving into our professionally designed and decorated home that is only possible with the help of a designer like Janet Brooks.

When my wife and I started the home-building process, she wanted to retain a high-end design firm. I didn’t object, though I didn’t really understand what they would do, or whether they were essential to the process.
Over the next two years, Janet and her team anticipated, researched and made recommendations on what seemed like thousands of details — both large and small. Not only were there many hundreds of decisions, but virtually every one would be interconnected to several others. In the early months they got to know Julie and I, not only in our lofty ambitions for our dream home, but also the daily quips and quirks of how we lived our lives. No detail was too small for their radar.
In shepherding our project, Janet had an army of vendors and artisans around Arizona and Southern California, who crafted, installed and fine-tuned every item, fabric and surface in our home. Her toolbox was as deep as her expertise.
One last aspect of the process, which I didn’t expect, was that I had a lot of fun. Although anxious to finish and move in, I was a little melancholy when our home was complete. With each decision, small and large, we were crafting the home our family will enjoy for decades to come. We were blessed with a team (architect, builder & designer) who were passionate about translating what we wanted into a stunning structure.
While I’m not a person who is quick to complain, neither am I one who is easy to please. JBD’s work pleased me. I am happy that we retained them, and that they were our partner in this journey. If we do this again, I hope they can be on the team. Their work had breadth and depth, but also remarkable finesse. Nothing is overdone. Nothing is weak or wimpy.
