About Janet
“We define luxury as beauty balanced with ease of living.” – Janet
My path to interior design began far from the desert. I grew up in Illinois, then moved to Colorado, drawn by the mountains and my lifelong love of snow skiing. It was there that my design career began, shaped by an appreciation for architecture, natural materials, craftsmanship, and the opportunity to work with clients from across the country who wanted homes in ski resort communities. Each client brought their own personal style, regional influences, and way of living, and I learned how to blend those perspectives into a cohesive
mountain style that felt authentic to the setting, yet deeply personal to them.
Over the years, my work has included hospitality, restaurants, offices, and a wide range of residential interiors, but my true passion has always been custom homes. I love the collaboration that happens when a homeowner is deeply invested in creating something exceptional – and welcomes the guidance of a designer who understands materials, function, and the thousands of details that must come together to create a home that is both beautiful and deeply livable.
My life outside of design is equally important to the way I see the world. I am married, and my son and daughter-in-law, who met at West Point, now live in North Carolina. At home, we share our life with our rescue dog, Maggie. Spending time in nature has always been one of my greatest sources of renewal and inspiration – whether in the mountains, the desert, or simply outdoors observing light, texture, color, and the quiet details that often find their way into my design work.
My Design Philosophy
I believe exceptional design begins with understanding how people truly live. A beautiful home must also function effortlessly – supporting daily routines, welcoming family and friends, and creating spaces that feel natural, comfortable, and deeply personal.
My design philosophy is rooted in balance: beauty and function, architecture and furnishings, refinement and warmth. Every decision matters, from the overall flow of a home to the smallest material detail. Flooring, cabinetry, lighting, furnishings, art, hardware, stone,
texture, and color all need to work together to create an environment that feels cohesive, elevated, and enduring.
I also believe thoughtful design should remain current without being overly driven by trends. Trends should not be ignored – they keep design fresh, relevant, and connected to the way people want to live now. But I am careful about following them too closely. I am always looking ahead, asking how a design direction will age, how it will feel in a few years, and whether it has enough timelessness to endure. Not every style lasts forever, but some age much more gracefully than others.
Luxury is not about excess. It is about creating a home that feels beautiful, personal, functional, and effortless to live in every day.
